About Jan Brewerton
Jan studied for a B.A in Fine Art at Coventry University, and, after two years living and teaching in Italy, completed her post-graduate studies at Goldsmith’s College, London.
Her work has its foundations in domesticity. In its details, its memories and its rituals.
Individual works begin as close studies of everyday domestic objects – motifs arising in the forms of vessels, artefacts, implements, textiles, fruit forms, patterns and natural materials.
Jan produces small, limited edition, hand-pulled prints on an 1862 Columbia press. Each print is unique. No two are exactly the same.
After many years teaching in specialist art education, Jan now works full-time in her Plymouth studio. Her work can be found in private collections both in Europe and throughout the UK.
